It has become so popular that it has become a wellness trend. We decided to ask a nutritionist if artichoke water really has such beneficial properties.

Today, there is no extensive evidence base for its benefits, and all the properties of such water are available from the artichoke itself. It is known to be beneficial to the liver and gallbladder thanks to the natural antioxidants cynarin and silymarin. And vitamin C in the composition maintains the balance of glucose in the blood.

These same nutrients are also found in artichoke water. It saturates the body with electrolytes, just like coconut water or quality spring water. Artichoke concentrates, syrups and teas are most commonly available on the Russian market.

The task of any water is to moisturize the internal organs and tissues. Artichoke drink promotes liver detoxification through phytonutrients and is a pleasant addition to the diet rather than a guarantee of effective cleansing. Artichoke water helps to expand the nutritional outlook, increase the level of motivation in general to drink more liquids.

It is worth paying attention to the fact that often sweeteners, such as agave syrup, are added to such water for flavor. Such a variant ceases to be a functional drink. It becomes closer to sweet water, negatively affecting carbohydrate metabolism and glucose balance in the body.

No product can ever be that “magic pill” And artichoke water is among them. It can be assumed that artichoke water helps digestion. This means that someone can stop feeling heavy after a meal, but this statement is true if the drink contains only water and artichoke extract.

If the drink has the right composition, it can be treated as a good option for electrolytes and a way to diversify water with lemon, cucumber, but no more.

If there is an allergy to artichokes or you don’t eat them for other reasons, this water will not work for you. All others can be guided by their taste. This is not a medicine, so there is no need to talk about strict contraindications. Of course, you should not replace with such a drink a meal or completely switch to it from ordinary pure water.
